This country house, renovated in 2001, lies among meadows and fields and is surrounded by oak and chestnut woods. Even in very hot weather, the walls made of local tufa stone guarantee pleasantly cool temperatures indoors. The spacious grounds include sun-drenched meadows with numerous old trees, the shade of which seems made for the siesta hour. The house has two storeys. On the ground floor there is a large kitchen with an open fireplace, a dining area and two splendid, spacious living rooms, from which three doors lead out to two terraces, one of which is roofed. A walled stairway leads up to the first floor, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms leading off a spacious corridor. The house is well appointed and elegantly decorated, with old Italian furniture tastefully blended with modern elements.
Leisure time and sports: In the immediate vicinity (7 kilometres) is Lake Bolsena, a large crater lake, whose very clean waters extend to a depth of 150 metres, offering wonderful swimming conditions, particularly on its western banks. Surfing and sailing are possible with good wind conditions, particularly in the afternoons. Boats can be rented (mostly sailing boats). If you wish, we can provide you with up to 4 mountain bikes at a cost of 30 Euros for each bike per week. Please make your request for the number of bikes that you need at the time of booking. You can go for particularly beautiful walks in the nature reserve of Monte Ruffeno, which can be reached in less than half an hour. And the chestnut and beech woods of 2000-metres high Monte Amiata, which lies mostly in Tuscany, are worth an excursion.
Culture: All the sightseeing available in the area will leave you no time to get bored! The only problem is choosing between the many Etruscan tombs and the impressive museum in Tarquinia (60 kilometres away), and beautiful towns within a radius of about 50 kilometres, such as Todi, Viterbo and Orvieto, or smaller places like Tuscania, Pitigliano, Sovana and Sorano. Sea bathing: Only 80 kilometers away, or a good hour´s drive along an interesting road, and you are on one of Italy´s cleanest beaches. In 2007 'L´ultima spiaggia', that is the last beach in Tuscany before the border with Lazio, was ranked in the highest category (along with only a few other beaches) by a well known environmental protection organisation. Here you can walk for hours along the beach, or enjoy delicous fish meals at a restaurant there (with table service or self service), or in the evenings, drink an aperitif as the sun sets behind Monte Argentario.

Summary: This is a very nice property. Veronica is very accommodating. The description of her house is very accurate. We like to choose properties away from tourist attractions yet close enough to drive to. Veronica’s house fills the bill, about a 20 minute drive to Orvieto. Happy to recommend

Summary: Veronica was a very kind host. The property is one of the finest we have stayed at in Italy. As per other visitors comments, the roads are narrow, a car the size of a Golf is an ideal size. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, plenty of lounge space and terraces outside. It is situated is what could only be described as a large park, the landscaping is massive. Very rural location, you will have to drive for any facilities. Recommended if you want a quiet holiday.

Summary: Very comfortable bed. Large bathroom. Excellent, well-supplied, modern kitchen with everything you need or want. Two wonderful outdoor porches in addition to wide open fields and a pergola with comfortable chairs. I can't imagine a nicer place to stay. It is certainly far and above any place I've stayed for vacation rentals. We loved everything about this place and were sad to leave it after just a week.

Summary: We absolutely loved our stay at Veronika's place and it's proximity to Orvieto (about a 25 minute drive away). During our stay we visited Todi, Assisi, Amelia and Lake Bolsena. We shopped every day at the Coop in Orvieto near the autoroute. The kitchen was very well equiped. We enjoyed cooking in the evening. The only thing to flag for others - if you are driving and you have a very big car - the dirt track to the property is very, very narrow and our car only just fit! Hence the reason we didn't go out in the evening. Fine if you have a smaller car.

Summary: We truly enjoyed our stay here. Veronika was very helpful in getting us to the location because it is off the usual roads! But once we found it, we loved it. It is so peaceful and quiet and comfortable! We loved being able to drive to Orvieto for a bite to eat, and discovering Bolsena nearby was delightful. The kitchen is amazing at this house, and we had several nice meals here. Don't stay here if you're looking for tourist traps or the usual Italian vacation -- what you'll find, instead, is nature, peace, quiet, and relaxation. We could not recommend this house -- or Veronka -- higher!

Summary: Casa Acquafresca provides an idyllic setting in the Umbrian countryside, “the green heart of Italy.” The renovated farmhouse remains true to its origins but with all the modern conveniences. Luxuriate in the solitude, sleep with the windows open and awaken to birdsong. We enjoyed all our meals al fresco in one of two outdoor settings on this large property. The kitchen is huge and lacking nothing; it is fully equipped with gas cooktop, electric oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and small appliances. Wifi proved to be reliable indoors and out. The location is convenient to Orvieto, Lake Bolsena and Civita di Bagnoregio. We stayed for two weeks in May when many of Veronika’s abundant flowers were spectacularly in bloom. We can easily recommend this property and would gladly return.

Summary: We spent a wonderful week at this charming house near Lake Bolsena. The house is in a quiet park-like setting and has everything you could need for a relaxing enjoyable time in this part of Italy. Veronica was very friendly, helpful, and very conscienscous in making sure we had an enjoyable stay. The photos on the VRBO site are accurate and the house and grounds are just as they seem. We will certainly be back here again.

Summary: A very nice place with spectacular surroundings. We had a lovely stay! Only 2 things to take into account: the nearest supermarket is 20 m away and there are quite a lot of mosquitoes.

Summary: The house is perfect for two couples to get away from the crowds. Situated in a quiet village but very close to Orvieto, 15mins & Bolsena also 15mins. The gardens are extensive & very private. There is a small local shop but we used Lidl on the Orvieto ring road-great value. Would not hesitate to stay again, the perfect house & Veronica was extremely helpful before our visit.
